So, I'm a songwriter. I have been since I was sixteen and my career has taken me on some amazing journeys with bands, theatre and producing...but not so long ago on a hazy day in London I got to thinking about all of the songs I have written and recorded and why it would be such a shame to leave them in a state of musical limbo for eternity. After all, I worked my arse off constructing these songs in various styles and they kinda feel like my babies. They are part of my soul and they deserve a chance to break out of their individual prisons.
So, how? Well, the answer came about four years ago when I worked with Delimusic to produce some of my songs with the fantastic Ed Moris and Ollie Raphael. The plan was to release the music in a more traditional 'record label' kind of way, and we did do this and garnered radio play worldwide and domestically on the likes of BBC 6 music.
However, some of the songs got placed with the BBC (Nigela), Channel 4 (Documentary) and a Dolce Gabaana x My Theresa ad.
Then the pandemic erupted and my usual theatre work got totally decimated and life was completely disrupted. Projects went on hold whilst the need to survive kicked in.
Now things are gradually returning back to 'normal' (don't mention the cost of living, mortgage crisis!) I got back to thinking about 'saving' my songs.
Music sync for film, TV and advertising seems to be the answer. It seems to me that it doesn't matter when these tracks were written or recorded, but if they are of a broadcast quality standard then, hey! yeah let's smash them out there!
So, I've constructed my musicsongsforsync.com site for all of you film, tv and advertising beauties to check out.
How many times have folk said to me, "god, that song would sound great in a film" or, "That song would be fantastic in an advert"??
Well, I've had some great syncs but now it's time to get the other bad boys synced up and out there in the new and exciting world for commercial music.
Thanks sync world! Here's to many more collaborations!
